Losing natural teeth can have a big impact on your life. You need teeth for eating, speaking, smiling, and a pleasing appearance and the list goes on. When teeth go missing, your oral health, confidence, and self-esteem take a hit, which is why they should be replaced quickly! Dental implants offer a permanent solution to restore your smile and everything that comes with it. At Randolph Family Dental, we provide dental implant treatment to residents of Schertz, Texas, and nearby communities.
Implants are dental restorations that look, feel, and function just like natural teeth. They can replace one tooth, multiple teeth, or all your teeth if needed.
Getting implants is a process that can take up to six months to complete. First, Dr. Fortuna Vardeman will examine your mouth to ensure it’s healthy enough for implants. Next, we’ll assess your tooth replacement needs and review your implant options for filling them. We’ll also discuss your expectations for getting implant surgery so we can determine if implants are the best restorative treatment for you. By evaluating your dental needs, we can ensure you receive the best possible results from your restorative treatment.
Dental implants consist of three parts: a titanium post, an abutment, and a restoration. The titanium screw is inserted into your jaw surgically in the gap left by your missing tooth. Over the next 3 to 6 months, this implant screw will permanently fuse with your jawbone to eventually function as a tooth root. This fusing process is called osseointegration. Once the osseointegration process is complete, Dr. Vardeman will attach an abutment to the implant to support your restoration. Lastly, a restoration will be attached to the abutment to complete your procedure.
For single implants, a dental crown is used to replace your missing tooth. Implant bridges replace multiple missing teeth, and implant-supported dentures serve as full mouth restorations to replace all your teeth in the upper or lower dental arch.
If you’re wondering if implants are worth the time and investment, consider all that you have to gain from this comprehensive dental treatment:
Implants can restore your smile to its original health, function, and beauty to boost your happiness, quality of life, and self-esteem!
